Vehicle doesn’t have to fly, but would be cool. I just took a job at Ford’s engine plant in Cleveland, Ohio. This means I need to return my corporate lease from FCA (you will be missed, toaster Jeep). So now I do not have a vehicle to get to Cleveland. I currently live in metro Detroit, and might have to commute back and forth for a while until I find a place to live. Looking for a cheap vehicle that can get me from Detroit to Cleveland. I’d prefer a vehicle from the Ford family so I don’t have to park in those lots that are half a mile away. My budget is maxed at $1,200. Absolutley no preference on which make or model; just needs to get me to wo rk safely (although I do have a soft spot for all vans).

I would strongly recommend avoiding any of the Ford dealers around here. We have one good one and they’re being run out of business by the GIANT shitty one that bought up every other dealership.

My long-term plan was to ride this first vehicle until I can afford a Transit van. Took one of them up north for a weekend. Fit 8 football player comfortably on a 7 hour drive.

You’re correct. I just rounded to the nearest big city to avoid confusion (hence I say metro Detroit vs. Center Line). Good tip on the local dealers. I don’ t plan on buying new anytime soon. So Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are my best friends for the next few weeks.

Except that Cleveland No. 1's got one driveway in Cleveland and half the plant in Brook Park because FUCKING GODDAMN CLEVELAND . They didn’t want anyone else to have the airport, so, yeah. And Cleveland Engine is, you got it, right by the airport. The official name is Cleveland No. 1 though.
I figure sooner or later, the Shitty of Cleveland’s going to try to seize Ford by eminent domain again to try and pop up what’s left of the tax base.

Do you have an ez-Pass yet? You should grab one. I’ve been making the Detroit-Cleveland run for a bit now, but finally finishing our project up. A focus would be a nice commuter car for the trip too.
Have you found any places to live yet? I used to stay in the beach wood area and drive around after work. A few nice roads out that way and looks to be some decent homes as well.

Question about the EZ pass. I have an I-pass from growing up in Chicago, will that work on the turnpike? O r do I need to pick up a new EZ pass? I know the EZ pass is accepted on Illinois toll roads, but not sure if it works the other way.
